Google joins effort for 3D Web standard with new plugin, API

 It’s almost (but not quite) completely unlike VRML, but with decent authoring tool integration via a sensible format. Still, I can’t help but wonder if this “let’s make the web 3D” thing isn’t cyclic because of solar flares or something.
