I happen to agree that there is a risk that the iPhone will lead to over-enthusiastic lock-in of a sort, especially considering that the US is still in a very immature state where it concerns mobile web sites and lacks the sort of diversity Europe and Japan have had to cope with for years now.

I was one of the first to write about the need for iPhone developers to avoid the temptation to abuse “para-compliance”, and I stand by what I wrote.
