Xen is a virtual machine monitor for Intel/x86 processors that supports execution of multiple guest operating systems with unprecedented levels of performance and resource isolation.
Thing is, you need to recompile your OS to run inside it for now. It won't run Windows, nor replace VMware anytime soon. It's not supposed to, anyhow.
