Also known as Terminal Services for Windows, based on the RDP protocol.
Software Clients:
RDP-only:
- CoRD, a Cocoa port of rdesktop.
- TSClientX - a Terminal Services client aimed at Intel-based Macs, consisting of nicely wrapped Open Source packages.
- Remote Desktop - an alternative Cocoa client based on the rdesktop sources.
- Seamless RDP - a very nice patch against rdesktop to provide seamless access to single applications (requires a small server-side component).
- properJavaRDP - a (desktop) Java client. I haven't found any MIDP implementations yet.
- Mocha Remote Desktop Client for Palm and Windows Mobile - much better "near full screen" mode than the built-in Pocket PC client.
- Remote Desktop Connection for Mac OS X
- rdesktop for Linux and generic UNIX systems.
- There is also a list of rdesktop ports and variants.
- ThinSoft sells several clients, and even a 20-client server for XP (which seems a bit odd - wonder how they get around licensing issues?)
Generic:
- pxes
- The Linux Terminal Server Project
- ThinStation
- K12 Linux Terminal Server Project - Fedora-based.
Servers:
- Xrdp - finally, an RDP server for UNIX. It acts as a proxy for a VNC server and is still a bit rough (keyboard handling, for instance, is shot), but we're getting there...
Utilities:
- TeamViewer, a cross-platform remote access solution
- tsclient, a Gnome front-end to rdesktop
- Terminal Server Patch for running multiple Windows XP sessions
Resources:
- Remote Networking Technology Wiki
- Terminal Services Free Downloads - links to several downloadable packages, to save time.
- Multiple Remote Desktop Sessions on Mac OS X (using VNC, but I hope to get Xrdp working along these lines...)
By Popular Demand:
- NX (which I loathe, but at least this way people can know why)
