Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt, the triple pantheon of whoever tries to manipulate the media in any way. Originally a staple of IBM's clout in its heyday (and later Microsoft's, when they stole the ball and took it to the software arena), it is now a common tool in Politics, Economics and, of course, blogging.
The main difference between it and Hype is that FUD has tended to be used in more and more in Security-related discussions, especially by people who don't understand the deep irony related to both Peter and the Wolf's underlying morals and the fact that the story was written in Stalinist times.
As always, knowing your History really pays off when dealing with this kind of thing.
